The Shenendehowa Miss Softball America program
was founded in 1973 by a small group of parents who wanted their
daughters to have the opportunity to participate in organized sports.
The first summer, 135 girls, ages 9 through 15, participated in the
program. The second and third seasons saw participation rise to 240
girls and 280 girls, respectively. Teams were coached and managed by
parents. Games were played on the school fields and occasionally on
the fields at Sherwood Forest, or Country Knolls.

In 1976, the league dropped the national
affiliation with Miss Softball America and joined the Hudson Mohawk
Girls Softball Association as Miss Shen Softball. Games were played with teams from Clifton
Park, Cambridge, Schuylerville, Greenwich, Colonie, Saratoga, Cohoes
and Brunswick.
In 1988, Miss Shen was proud to open our own complex of
fields. Click

The Miss Shen Softball league is governed
by a Board of Directors. Past board members have paved the way for all
of us at Miss Shen so that we may enjoy an inclusive league, fun
environment, and top-notch playing fields. Thank you to our league
presidents for their leadership. Click

Today, we have over 700 girls, ages 4 through 17, registered
to play and we rely on the participation of many parent volunteers.
We offer our girls opportunities to learn
more aspects of the game through optional clinics and camps.
The popular winter pitching clinic, which takes place from December to March, has been offered
for many years. We also hold an annual catcher's clinic and other clinics throughout the year.
Our recreation program encourages a have-fun attitude where girls can learn and
participate in the game of softball.
The girls who play in the travel program enjoy more competitive play
against local area teams and participation in Local, State and
National tournaments. The travel program adheres to ASA rules.
We are proud of our history and look forward to our future!
