| The
Miss Shen recreation softball program runs from early May to mid-June.
Girls who meet the age and residency criteria may register regardless
of experience. Players are organized into teams within age divisions.
The uniform (included in the registration fee) consists of a personalized
jersey and a visor. Each player will need a glove and a helmet
equipped with both a face cage and chin strap. Parents help coach,
manage teams, prepare the fields for games and staff the snack bar.
Each division will play games on Saturdays, one evening each week
and an occasional Sunday afternoon game. |

| T-ball
is designed to acquaint beginners with basic skills of throwing,
catching, fielding, base-running and hitting. The ball is
hit off a tee allowing players to concentrate on the swing.
Score is not kept, and all players play. Games are played Tuesday
nights and Saturdays. |

| Minors
reinforces the skills learned in T-ball and introduces a pitched ball to the players. The coaches pitch the ball.

| Single
A Division players hit pitches thrown by a coach. The
emphasis is on reinforcing and developing basic skills.
As in T Ball and Minors, a safety softball is used. Games
are played Monday nights and Saturdays. |

| A
small (11") softball is used. Players pitch, with a coach
pitching after four balls. Teams are selected by draft.
Games are officiated by youth umpires, often upper-division
players. Games are played Wednesday nights and Saturdays. |

| A
full sized (12") softball is used. Players throw all pitches. Games
last 7 innings,
baselines are increased to 60 feet. Season standings are
kept and playoff games are held at the end of the season. Games
played Thursday nights and Saturdays. |

| Pitchers
pitch from 40'. ASA umpires officiate. The dropped
third strike rule is in effect. Players may steal a base
after the pitch leaves the pitchers hand. Other ASA fastpitch
softball rules are in effect.
Games are played Tuesday nights and Saturdays. |
